Job summary

Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers in Milwaukee is seeking a licensed Family Physician to provide comprehensive primary care to adults and children, collaborating with an Advanced Practice Practitioner and the care team to manage a shared patient panel.

The physician will perform inpatient and outpatient services, order diagnostics, prescribe medications, and participate in after-hours coverage, with emphasis on health promotion, cultural sensitivity, and community health needs.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a physician in the State of Wisconsin.
• Completion of Family Practice Residency from an accredited Family Medicine Program.
• Board certification or eligible for Board Certification in Family Practice.
• Licensed for prescriptive authority in the State of Wisconsin.
• Insurable for liability coverage as a Family Practitioner
• Spanish speaking preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides primary health care services within scope of practice to adults and children in accordance with approved privileges.
• Provides inpatient hospital services within scope of practice and in accordance with department policy.
• Provides after-hours coverage for SSCHC patients.
• Works in partnership with an Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP) and one or more other team members to care for a shared panel of patients on the medical team, which includes but is not limited to diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions.
• Emphasizes health promotion, wellness, and disease prevention.
• Includes patient in medical decision making.
• Orders, conducts and interprets diagnostic studies and laboratory tests.
• Prescribes medication.
• Prepares and maintains medical patient reports and records.
• Abides by all SSCHC policies and procedures.
• Has the option to participate in the training of APP's, medical students and medical residents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to work under pressure, maintains personal composure, evaluate situations and act/react appropriately, and use tact in dealing with visitors, patients and difficult situations.
• Ability to identify and maintain confidential material.
• Ability to interpret and conform program operations to applicable laws, rules, regulations and funding source requirements and according to acceptable standards.
• BLS certification maintained.
• Spanish speaking preferred
