Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing professional, comprehensive primary medical care and treatment services with an emphasis on prevention of disease and promotion of health.

Essential Job Duties

• Provides patients with medical assessments and treatments pertaining to physical and mental health.
• Orders and interprets medical labs and diagnostic imaging for patients.
• Refers patients to appropriate specialists as needed.
• Prescribes pharmaceuticals and treatments for assessed medical conditions.
• Performs minor procedures as qualified.
• Provides accurate, timely, and complete documentation in patient records following Neighborhood Health Center coding standards.
• Displays sensitivity to the populations served.
• Contributes professional medical expertise to other medical and mental health professionals and clinical support staff.
• Provides oversight of support staff with respect to individual patient management.
• Participates in team huddles to review the schedule at the start of the clinic day.
• Participates in process and quality improvement workflows.
• Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
• Maintains availability during scheduled on‑call hours.
• Attends required meetings and in‑services, and participates in committees as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree (MD/DO) or equivalent from an accredited school of medicine.
• Completion of Family Practice Residency with at least two years related experience and/or training preferred.
• Experience working with underserved populations in a community health center preferred.
• Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Oregon; active DEA license; BLS certification required.
• Must provide all necessary documentation for Oregon credentialing.
• Ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing with a service‑oriented approach, sometimes in stressful circumstances.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA policies.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply FQHC guidelines and accepted current medical practice and standards.
• Knowledge and ability to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
• Ability to effectively perform in a fast‑paced environment.
• Intermediate or higher proficiency of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Teams).
• Ability to proficiently use EPIC Electronic Health Record.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of health care to a diverse and underserved population.
• Ability to use good and ethical judgement in difficult situations.
• Ability to communicate professionally with peers, management, and patients alike.
• Ability to act as a leader and educational resource to clinic support staff.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Working Conditions

• Typical 40‑hour week; hours may vary.
• Moderate to loud noise level based on patient volume.
• High patient volume; position experiences stressors of a fast‑paced environment.
• Must be able to travel during the workday and/or cover at other locations as needed.
• Occasional exposure to toxic chemicals or blood‑borne pathogens; regular handling of contaminated sharp instruments.
• Requires sitting while working on the computer, using hands and fingers to handle tools, repeated movements, ability to differentiate colors, read from a screen for extended periods.
• Requires frequent standing and walking, filing, use of office equipment, or collaboration with employees.
• Occasional standing, stooping, and lifting of objects weighing 20‑25 pounds up to 40‑50 pounds.
