Job summary

Open Sky Community Services in Worcester, MA seeks a Family Partner to support youth up to 22 and their families, using lived experience to build trust and empower families toward stability and recovery. Qualifications

  • Lived experience as a youth, parent, caregiver, or family member who has navigated services through the Department of Children and Families, required.
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving history and reliable transportation, required.
  • Reliability, willingness to learn, and being open to new opportunities.
  • Bilingual candidates highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Uses lived experience to collaborate with the youth and their parent/caregiver, treatment providers, supports, school, and other service providers to ensure the cohesive inclusion of the parent/caregiver peer support service with all other services.
  • Uses lived experience to support youth to communicate effectively and foster their communication with family, friends, allies/natural supports, providers and others.
  • Practice skills related to networking, informed decision making, collaborative decision making and leadership with parents/caregivers.
  • Provide psychoeducation around parenting skills and trauma.
  • Ability to develop a healthy relationship with the youth and their parent/caregiver.
  • This includes but is not limited to the following: listening from a parent/caregiver perspective, encouraging the youth’s and parent/caregiver’s unique gifts, and fostering communication between the youth and their parents/caregivers, friends, other natural supports, providers and others identified.

Job description

Job Description: Open Sky’s Support & Stabilization Services provide an array of services to support youth up to the age of 22 years and families that may be experiencing emotional and/or behavioral challenges. Services provided include groups, therapeutic services to help children remain in their home, preparation support for children reunifying with family, permanency support, skill building, increasing social connections, and providing families with community resources to meet basic needs. The goal of the program is to provide families with access to services that are tailored to their individualized strengths and needs which gives youth the greatest chance for safety, permanency, and well-being.

The Family Partner is a vital member of the team that brings lived experience as a parent, caregiver, or family member who has navigated services through the Department of Children and Families. This firsthand experience is essential to building trust, fostering hope, and empowering families as they move toward stability and recovery.

This role offers a flexible hybrid work environment that includes a combination of office-based collaboration, community-based support with youth and families, and remote work opportunities for documentation, scheduling, and other administrative responsibilities as appropriate.

Pay Range: $22.07/Hr. - $24.81/Hr.
