Job summary

Behavioral Health Network, Inc (BHN) seeks a FIT Family Partner to provide peer-to-peer support to parents and caregivers of youth with Serious Emotional Disturbance. You will help families navigate child-serving systems and build advocacy skills to achieve treatment goals.

You will mentor families, connect them to community resources, and collaborate with clinicians in community settings while documenting progress and attending supervision and development sessions.

Qualifications

• Lived experience as a caregiver of a child with mental health or special needs.
• 2 years of experience with children/adolescents/transition-age youth if only HS/GED.
• Alternative: 1 year of relevant experience with Associate/Bachelor’s in Human Services.

Responsibilities

• Offer peer mentoring and model advocacy and collaboration.
• Connect families with community-based resources and supports.
• Provide education and emotional support to Empower caregivers in Wraparound.
• Collaborate with FIT clinicians and paraprofessionals in community settings.
• Foster family engagement with transparency and lived experience.
• Document progress notes, encounters, and support plans in a timely manner.
• Participate in supervision, team meetings, and professional development.

What You’ll Do

As a FIT Family Partner, you will use your lived experience to provide strength-based, peer-to-peer support for parents and caregivers of youth with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED). You will play a critical role in helping families navigate child-serving systems, build advocacy skills, and achieve their treatment goals.

• Offer peer mentoring and model effective advocacy and collaboration skills
• Connect families with community-based and formal resources such as afterschool programs, food assistance, housing supports, and more
• Provide education and emotional support to empower caregivers in the Wraparound process
• Partner with FIT clinicians and paraprofessionals to deliver intensive support in community-based settings
• Foster family engagement through transparency, compassion, and shared lived experience
• Document progress notes, encounters, and support plans in a timely manner
• Participate in supervision, team meetings, and professional development to enhance your practice

Who You Are

• You have lived experience as a caregiver of a child with mental health or special needs
• High School Diploma or GED and at least 2 years of experience working with children/adolescents/transition-age youth
• OR Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services with 1 year of relevant experience
• Familiarity with child-serving systems such as DCF, DMH, special education, or psychiatric services
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Comfortable with technology, including word processing, email, and documentation systems
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
