Job summary

The Emily Program seeks a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner to provide medical assessment and treatment for patients with eating disorders across all levels of care. The provider works within a multidisciplinary team in a gender-inclusive setting and participates in quality improvement activities.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm with on-call duties. The position emphasizes comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and coordination of care with site leadership and families.

Qualifications

  • Duly certified and licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant by appropriate national certifying body and state licensing agency.
  • Appropriate State Licensure to practice independently in the field, with prescriptive authority.
  • Two (2) or more years of practice; preference for experience with hospitals, complex medical conditions, and psychiatric patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct medical services through evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients, including exams and prescriptions.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat medical complications of eating disorders across levels of care.
  • Develop medical treatment plans and update them with each visit.
  • Liaise with ambulatory providers and families as needed.
  • Complete documentation in a timely manner.
  • Participate in staff conferences, education, and clinical committees.

Position Overview

The Family Practice Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing medical assessment and treatment for all patients in accordance with the provider’s training, licensing, and state regulation, at clinical sites where the clinician is assigned. The provider is expected to function as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team, treating patients with eating disorders and related or comorbid medical conditions. The provider will serve patients in a gender-inclusive environment of all ages and across all levels of care. The Family Practice Nurse Practitioner is encouraged to participate in quality and performance improvement activities.

Monday-Friday: 8:00am-5:00pm along with on-call duties

Compensation Disclosure

Family Nurse Practitioner Starting Salaried Range: $101,860.00-$162,800.00 Final Compensation offered will be within pay range based on qualifications/experience met for the position

How Family Nurse Practitioner's Empower Recovery
  • Provide direct medical services through the comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients, including appropriate exams, work-up and prescription medications, and other interventions as indicated.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat medical complications of eating disorders and intercurrent conditions for patients at all levels of care. The frequency of visits should be dictated by clinical need, and facilitate appropriate medical care for the clinical severity and in accordance with direction from site medical leadership
  • Develop the medical treatment plans of all assigned patients and update them with each visit
  • Liaise by telephone with each patient’s ambulatory provider, at a minimum, at admission, discharge, and as needed during treatment in the context of significant concerns.
  • Liaise with families of patients as indicated
  • Evaluate all patients on caseload within two weeks of discharge, to assess stability for the next level of care, and to complete a summary of all follow up recommendations and a comprehensive discharge summary.
  • Work with the Utilization Review team to provide medical information to support the facilitation of peer-to-peer insurance reviews, determination of appropriate levels of care, arbitration of clinical appeals, etc.
  • Participate in staff conferences and education, and serve on clinical committees, as assigned
  • Complete all documentation in a timely manner
  • Participate in call schedule
  • Provide education about medical complications and comorbidities of eating disorders to family and patients as needed.
  • Participate in program development with site medical leadership as interested and assigned.
  • Maintain license and supervision requirements in association with an on-site collaborating physician.
  • Follow all procedures and protocols for patient care and documentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned or identified
Qualifications

  • Appropriate State Licensure to practice independently in the field, with prescriptive authority

Professional Qualifications: Two (2) or more years of practice, with a preference for experience in hospitals, complex medical conditions, and working with psychiatric patients

  • Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites are required to have a current Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites in North Carolina or Georgia are required to have a current CPI certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Employees at Residential site in Washington are required to have a Washington State Department of Health Food Handler permit within 30 days of hire.
