Job Summary
Responsible for providing appropriate non-surgical primary and continuing care to patients. The physician performs assigned duties while maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct and acting in the best interest of Aultman/ Aultman Medical Group (AMG). This role supports AMG’s mission, vision, and values to optimize the health and well-being of AMG’s patients.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Examines patients, obtains medical histories, and treats acute and chronic illnesses in outpatient and inpatient settings (as applicable).
- Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic tests.
- Involves patients and their families in care and treatment decisions.
- Collaborates with staff, other physicians, and management to improve care delivery and service.
- Initiates appropriate specialty referrals, working with AMG resources to ensure continuity of care.
- Works in PCMH settings with the Care Delivery team for specific patient groups or conditions such as diabetes or smoking cessation.
- Provides clinical information to the interdisciplinary team clearly and promptly.
- Ensures timely, accurate, and complete patient documentation.
- Works with practice management on billing, coding, and CPT code assignment compliance.
- Achieves and maintains optimal patient access.
- Provides interdepartmental medical consultation as needed.
- Participates in developing medical protocols and standard procedures.
- Provides on-call coverage as assigned, responding promptly when on call.
- Acts professionally and respectfully, complying with policies, procedures, and laws.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Other Job Responsibilities
- Supervises and oversees Advanced Practice Providers as needed.
- Promotes health education with other health professionals.
- Uses healthcare resources efficiently.
- Participates in quality improvement activities and committee work, supporting process improvements.
Education/Certification/Licensing Requirements
- MD or DO degree with recognized residency in internal medicine or family medicine.
- Valid, active board certification or eligibility in the appropriate specialty.
- Ohio medical license.
- DEA registration and Controlled Substance Certificate.
- BLS certification; ACLS certification if applicable.
Additional Requirements
- Continuing medical education (CME) as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of primary care principles, pharmacology, and the ability to manage and direct medical support staff. Excellent communication skills, ability to handle stress, and cultural competence are essential.
