Job summary

Tampa Family Health Centers is seeking a Family Medicine Physician to join our primary care team in Tampa, Florida. This full-time role focuses on comprehensive, patient-centered outpatient care and serves as a clinical resource for APPs, nursing staff, residents, and students.

The physician will work within TFHC’s Patient-Centered Medical Home model, emphasizing continuity of care, preventive health, access, and chronic disease management.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of required postgraduate clinical training accepted by the applicable state licensing authority.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
  • Active and unrestricted Florida medical license.
  • Active DEA registration.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care, including preventive services, acute treatment, chronic disease management, and family planning.
  • Perform patient histories, physical examinations, clinical assessments, and medical diagnoses.
  • Order, review, and interpret laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic testing.
  • Develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and coordinate follow-up care.
  • Make appropriate referrals for specialty care and diagnostic services.

Position Summary

Tampa Family Health Centers is seeking a Family Medicine Physician to join our primary care team.

The physician will provide comprehensive, patient-centered primary care in an outpatient setting while serving as a clinical resource for advanced practice providers, nursing staff, residents, students, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.

This position supports TFHC’s Patient-Centered Medical Home model, with an emphasis on continuity of care, preventive health, access, chronic disease management, and long-term patient outcomes.

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care, including preventive services, acute treatment, chronic disease management, and family planning
  • Perform patient histories, physical examinations, clinical assessments, and medical diagnoses
  • Order, review, and interpret laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic testing
  • Develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and coordinate follow-up care
  • Make appropriate referrals for specialty care, diagnostic services, and additional treatment
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely electronic health record documentation
  • Complete billing charges and clinical tasks in accordance with organizational requirements
  • Participate in daily care team huddles, peer review, and quality-improvement initiatives
  • Support efforts to close care gaps and improve clinical outcomes
  • Provide clinical guidance and oversight to advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and other care team members
  • Teach and supervise residents, medical students, and allied health professionals when applicable
  • Support accreditation readiness, clinical quality measures, and organizational performance goals
  • Protect patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and safety
  • Comply with HIPAA, HRSA, federal, state, accreditation, and TFHC requirements
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited medical school
  • Completion of required postgraduate clinical training accepted by the applicable state licensing authority
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Active and unrestricted Florida medical license
  • Active DEA registration
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and leadership skills
  • Commitment to maintaining required continuing medical education and professional development
  • Ability to work effectively with patients from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems

NHSC Loan Repayment Opportunities

Tampa Family Health Centers operates National Health Service Corps-approved locations. Eligible physicians assigned to a qualifying location may apply for federal student loan repayment through the NHSC.

Qualifying Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physicians may be eligible to receive:

  • Up to $75,000 in student loan repayment for an initial two-year, full-time service commitment
  • Additional repayment opportunities for continued service, subject to NHSC guidelines and eligibility

NHSC loan repayment is separate from the physician’s TFHC salary, productivity incentives, and benefits. Eligibility and award amounts are determined by HRSA based on the provider’s qualifications, educational debt, assigned location, service commitment, available funding, and current program requirements.
