Job summary

York General Family Medical Clinic is seeking a Medical Coder to join our team. In this role, you will ensure accurate coding, claim processing, and insurance verification while supporting providers and patients.

This full-time position offers a Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00am–5:00pm, with comprehensive benefits and a culture that emphasizes quality patient care and teamwork. You will collaborate with the Family Medicine Medical Records department to maintain coding accuracy and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or better.
  • Medical office experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with providers and staff.
  • Bonus for ICD/CPT coding experience and claims processing.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze patient records to assign ICD and CPT codes.
  • Process insurance claims and verify information for timely reimbursement.
  • Investigate, correct, and resubmit denied or rejected claims.
  • Coordinate with providers and clinic staff regarding coding questions.
  • Assist patients with insurance-related inquiries professionally.
  • Complete e-dispense forms accurately and timely.
  • Participate in coding quality improvement and HIPAA compliance.

Reports to: Director of Patient Accounts

In this role, you will ensure accurate coding, claim processing, and insurance verification while serving as an important resource for both providers and patients.

What You\'ll Do:

  • Review and analyze patient records to assign accurate ICD and CPT codes.
  • Process insurance claims and verify required information for timely reimbursement.

  • Protect patient confidentiality and uphold HIPAA standards.

What You\'ll Bring:
