Qualifications

• JD or equivalent from an accredited law school.
• Active Iowa law license in good standing.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Effective courtroom, negotiation, and advocacy abilities.
• Ability to manage cases, deadlines, and client expectations.

Responsibilities

• Manage family law matters from inception through resolution.
• Advise clients and maintain regular, professional client communication.
• Draft pleadings, motions, judgments, orders, discovery, and correspondence.
• Conduct legal research and analysis.
• Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions, hearings, mediation, and trial.
• Appear at conferences, mediations, hearings, and trials.
• Negotiate settlements and advocate effectively for clients.
• Communicate with opposing counsel, courts, experts, and other third parties.
• Maintain organized and complete case files.
• Produce accurate, thorough, and timely legal work.
• Record billable time accurately and consistently under firm policies.
• Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and support departments.
• Participate in firm training and professional-development programs.
