Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Law and demonstrated interest or experience in Family Law, including divorce, custody, and related matters.
• Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex Legal Issues in a litigation context.
• Experience drafting and arguing Motions in court, including dispositive and non-dispositive motions.
• Skill in preparing for, taking, and defending Depositions of parties, experts, and other witnesses.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and admission (or eligibility for admission) to the Minnesota bar.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills, with attention to detail and deadlines.
• Strong client service orientation, professional judgment, and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
• Prior family law or civil litigation experience, including courtroom practice, is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Role Description

The Family Law Associate attorney will handle a range of family law matters, including divorce, custody, parenting time, child support, spousal maintenance, and related legal issues. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting pleadings and motions, conducting legal research, managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, and preparing cases for mediation, settlement, and trial. The role also involves regular client communication, case strategy development with supervising attorneys, court appearances, and coordination with paralegals and support staff to move cases efficiently through the litigation process. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Minneapolis, MN, with opportunities for professional development and collaboration within a high-performing litigation team.
