Job summary

San Diego Divorce Lawyers, APC seeks an Associate Attorney with 2–4 years of solid California Family Law experience to hit the ground running and serve existing and future clients with outstanding representation.

Mentorship by two Certified Family Law Specialists is available. Base salary ranges from $125,000 to $140,000 annually, with origination percentage and profit sharing if goals are met. Remote work is possible upon request, but this is not a fully remote position.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in California.
• No negative reporting on law license.
• No pending investigations or matters before the State Bar Court.

Responsibilities

• Develop legal strategies and advise clients as principal contact between the Firm and clients.
• Delegate tasks to Paralegals and Legal Assistants while ensuring timely, professional work.
• Provide strategy on complex Family Law cases including custody and financial disputes.
• Engage in full-service Family Law matters: divorce, parentage, child support, spouse support, TROs, asset division.
• Conduct discovery, draft/Review pleadings, attend pretrial and trial hearings.

We are looking for a team player who understands that all ships rise when the tide rises - and for someone with at least 2-4 years of solid California Family Law experience and a plus if you are bilingual in Spanish. Base Salary will be $125,000 - $140,000 annually, plus origination percentage and additional profit sharing if you and the firm hits its goals. We have strict rules about after-hours contact from clients and it is a firm policy that personal cell phone numbers are not given out to clients or opposing counsel. You will assist on more complicated cases with plenty of opportunity to learn as well as be lead on your own cases.

The Job

• Develop legal strategies and advise clients regarding their best legal interests, serving as the principal contact between the Firm and the clients.
• The Attorney may delegate to Paralegals and Legal Assistants to accomplish these tasks, but remains responsible for ensuring the timely and professional completion of the work.
• Provide strategy and support on complex Family Law cases which include highly contested custody matters and complex financial issues.
• Engage in full-service Family Law services, which include divorce, parentage, child support, spousal support, domestic violence restraining orders, and division of assets.
• The Attorney is responsible for conducting discovery, providing high-level legal research support when needed, drafting and reviewing complex pleadings and motions, conducting pretrial hearings and conferences, motion hearings, Evidentiary Hearings and Family Law trials.

The Essentials

• Applicant must be licensed in California and have no negative reporting on their law license record, no pending investigations or pending matters before the State Bar Court.
• Familiarity with the following programs is helpful, but not required if you are a fast learner and technologically savvy: MyCase, Essential Forms, Slack, Monday.com, Lawmatics, CFLS DissoMaster Suite of programs, Microsoft Office, CFLS MSA Program, Attorney’s Briefcase, Microsoft Teams, Zoom.
• The firm pays for the following memberships: SDCBA, SDFLBA, Lawyers Club (optional) and a diversity bar organization (optional). The firm pays annual California Bar dues.
