Job Summary

Start Date: Monday, June 16th, 2025

Training Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm CST

The assigned shift could be at any time between 7:00am-7:00pm CST after training.

The role of the Family Health Advocate is an exciting and innovative remote role created to provide meaningful support to members and their families through personalized resource and referral facilitation, issue resolution, and healthcare navigation. Utilizing motivational interviewing and guided approaches, the advocate will support members in achieving health goals, reducing costs, and optimizing care quality.

Essential Job Functions

• Answer inquiries from members via voice and chat regarding eligibility, benefits, open enrollment, claims, ID issues, grievances/appeals, utilization management, and more.
• Support provider search, focusing on cost and quality, and present provider options.
• Assist with spending accounts, pharmacy, disability, and community resources.
• Coordinate issue resolution with providers, payers, or third parties.
• Provide proactive care guidance, including closing care gaps, benefits education, and preparing members for procedures.
• Refer members to care management, clinical advocates, or third parties as needed.
• Understand and communicate benefit design packages, handle benefit and enrollment issues, and engage members in programs.

Specific Skills/Attributes

• Excellent multi-channel communication and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication in voice and chat channels, with strong typing, grammar, and spelling skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2-year healthcare/health sciences degree or equivalent experience, or relevant positions such as Health Guide, Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, etc.
• Experience in customer service within healthcare settings and resolving high-level issues.
