Job summary

Valley of the Sun YMCA is seeking an Assistant Program Manager to support development, organization, and implementation of YMCA programs that serve the community. The role focuses on coordinating activities, supporting marketing/distribution of information, and ensuring alignment with community needs.

The position emphasizes recruiting diverse staff and volunteers, strong relationship-building with community partners, and careful budget and scheduling management to meet fiscal objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
• One to two years related experience preferred.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Responsibilities

• Ensure programs meet community needs; assist in marketing and distribution of program information.

• Model relationship-building; develop relationships with community organizations and maintain clear communication within responsibility area.
• Assist with managing the program, including developing and monitoring the program budget, compiling statistics, scheduling facilities, and planning classes/events.
• Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers and complete required abuse risk training.
• Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.

Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Assists in the development, organization, and implementation of high-quality YMCA program(s).

RESPONSIBILITIES OF AN ASSISTANT PROGRAM MANAGER:

• Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include assisting supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
• Assists in recruiting and hiring diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success.
• Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
• Assist with managing the program, including assisting with developing and monitoring the programbudget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program; securing and scheduling the needed facilities; and creating and scheduling the classes, activities, or events.
• Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
• Attend required abuse risk management training.
• Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
• Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
