Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota is seeking a Family Development Specialist to assist families pursuing foster care or adoption. You will guide home study assessments, collaborate with families, and provide ongoing resources to support licensing and approval processes.

Travel is required for onsite and rural community positions; sign-on bonus available for external candidates. This role emphasizes client-focused care within a values-driven team, with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work or related field, plus one to two years related experience is required.
• Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Social Work Associate through the South Dakota Board of Social Work Examiners is required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass agency background checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist families in navigating the process to become a foster or adoptive resource.
• Complete home study assessments for prospective foster and kinship families pursuing licensing and adoption.
• Partner with families to complete home study, write the home study assessment, and provide resources and support.
• Collaborate with the Licensing Team and South Dakota DSS/CPS.
