Job summary

Community Services Group is seeking a Mental Health Worker (MHW) and a Master’s level co-therapist to deliver mental health treatment and case management to a child/adolescent in home or community settings. You will support families, coordinate services, and collaborate with schools and providers as part of Youth Mental Health Family Based Services.

The role requires flexible, full-time hours (40/wk), with day hours plus evenings 2–3 times weekly and on-call rotation as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, rehabilitation, pre-med, theology or anthropology and 1 year CASSP experience; OR
  • 12 college hours in humanities or social services plus 1 year CASSP experience and certification enrollment; OR
  • Licensed RN plus 1 year CASSP experience and certification enrollment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide treatment services to individuals and families to enable home-based care.
  • Manage caseload and complete case administration.
  • Facilitate group processes and activities within the program.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary treatment planning.
  • Coordinate services with families, schools, physicians and other providers.
  • Make referrals to services and resources to meet needs.
  • Communicate with families and schools about progress and plans.
  • Travel to community locations to deliver home- and community-based services.
  • Possess knowledge of medical/psychiatric terminology and group dynamics.

Summary:

The Mental Health Worker (MHW) and their Master's level co-therapist are responsible for providing mental health treatment/therapy and case management to the identified child/adolescent to prevent out of home placement. The MHW works with all family members, in either the home or community, to enhance relationships. The MHW works to build connections between the family and community, school and other service providers. This position is part of our Youth Mental Health (MH) Services Family Based Services. Flexible, Full-Time Schedule (40 hrs./wk.) Monday to Friday - Day hours with 2 to 3 evenings per week as needed and rotating on-call coverage.

Wage Information:

Starting wage: $21.81/hour, negotiable based on relevant experience

Job Description:
  • Provides treatment services to the individual and their family including skills training and education designed to enable the family to care for their child at home who has a mental illness or emotional disturbance.
  • Provides case administration to an assigned caseload.
  • Facilitates group process and activity within the program.
  • Contributes to the multidisciplinary treatment team process.
  • Coordinates needed services for individuals, families and others who are significant to the service plan.
  • Makes referrals to other public and private social services and community agencies and resources to meet individual and family needs, assists individual and their families in understanding and utilizing these resources.
  • Maintains regular communication with families, schools, physicians and other service providers involved with the child and family.
  • Travels to individual locations, other agencies, and community resources for the purpose of arranging and providing community and home-based service for children, adolescents, and families.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize basic medical and psychiatric terminology.
  • Basic knowledge of group dynamics processes.
  • Ability to effectively manage crisis situations that may include verbal/physical altercations and/or suicidal/self-injurious thoughts or actions.
  • Ability to adapt treatment programs by graduating tasks to meet an individual's specific level of function.
  • Ability to lead and instruct individuals in psycho-educational groups
  • Interviews individual and individual representatives to gather pertinent demographic psychosocial information.
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, rehabilitation, pre-med, theology or anthropology from an accredited college or university AND one year of experience in a CASSP system program; OR
  • 12 college level semester hours in humanities or social services PLUS one year of experience in a CASSP system program AND be enrolled for certification by the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services as a Mental Health Family Based Worker; O
  • Licensed RN PLUS one year experience in a CASSP program AND be enrolled for certification by the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
Additional requirements include:
  • A valid driver's license, good driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle to attend trainings, meetings, and/or transport individuals to appointments.
