Job summary

Peter Paul RVA seeks a Family and Behavioral Health Coordinator to oversee the partnership with a licensed mental wellness provider. You will coordinate behavioral support staff, caregiver sessions, and trainings to improve student emotional regulation and caregiver capacity.

Your role ensures consistent use of social-emotional learning and behavioral support strategies across program settings, with strong data management and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in social work, psychology, education, human services, public health, nonprofit management, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience coordinating youth, family engagement, behavioral health, SEL, or community-based programs.
• Strong understanding of youth development, trauma-informed practices, behavioral management, and family engagement principles.
• Ability to build productive relationships with students, caregivers, school or after-school staff, clinical professionals, and community partners.
• Excellent organizational, communication, facilitation, and documentation skills.
• Experience collecting and summarizing program data (attendance, surveys, observations, referrals, and other metrics).
• Ability to work flexible hours to support after-school programming, caregiver sessions, field trips, and staff training.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate placement and day-to-day integration of behavioral support staff from a Program Vendor within PPRVA's Youth Education Program.
• Monitor student behavioral support needs and connect to counseling services when needed.
• Plan and coordinate caregiver support sessions across fall, winter, and spring cycles.
• Coordinate quarterly behavioral and mental health intervention trainings for PPRVA staff.
• Maintain strong communication among Program Vendor counselors, PPRVA staff, caregivers, and leadership to ensure consistent SEL and PBIS practices.
• Lead collection and organization of measurement tools (logs, attendance, referrals, surveys, etc.).
• Track progress toward annual targets: ~150 students served, ~75 caregivers engaged, ~30 staff trained quarterly.
• Prepare periodic summaries for program leadership on progress, participation, referrals, surveys, and needs.
• Identify barriers to participation and propose practical solutions to improve access and engagement.

Position Summary

The Family and Behavioral Health Coordinator will oversee implementation of the partnership between a licensed mental wellness provider (Program Vendor) and Peter Paul RVA, ensuring that behavioral support, caregiver education, staff training, referrals, and related evaluation activities are delivered consistently and effectively. The Coordinator will serve as the primary point of coordination among Program Vendor clinical staff, PPRVA youth education staff, caregivers, and program leadership to advance the intended outputs and outcomes of improved student emotional regulation, stronger caregiver capacity, and increased staff confidence in behavioral intervention strategies.

Primary Responsibilities

• Coordinate the placement and day-to-day integration of behavioral support staff from a Program Vendor within PPRVA's Youth Education Program, including support during classroom instruction, enrichment activities, and field trips.


• Monitor student behavioral support needs and help ensure timely identification, referral, and connection to individualized counseling services when additional one-on-one support is needed.


• Plan and coordinate caregiver support sessions across fall, winter, and spring cycles, including scheduling, communication with families, session logistics, attendance tracking, and coordination of child-minding support.


• Coordinate quarterly behavioral and mental health intervention trainings for PPRVA staff, ensuring participation, preparation of materials, and follow-up on staff learning needs.


• Maintain strong communication among Program Vendor counselors, PPRVA program staff, caregivers, and leadership to ensure consistent use of social-emotional learning and positive behavioral support strategies across program settings.


• Lead collection and organization of measurement tools, including staff observation logs, attendance records, referral records, staff surveys, caregiver surveys, and pre- and post-assessments where applicable.


• Track progress toward annual participation targets, including approximately 150 students served, 75 caregivers engaged, and 30 staff members trained quarterly.


• Prepare periodic summaries for program leadership that describe implementation of progress, participation trends, referral activity, survey results, and emerging needs.


• Help identify barriers to participation for students, caregivers, and staff, and recommend practical solutions to improve access, engagement, and program effectiveness.

Measures of Success for the Coordinator

• Behavioral support is consistently embedded in Youth Education Program activities and documented through staff observation logs.


• Students needing additional support are identified and referred to counseling services from a licensed mental wellness provider in a timely manner.


• Caregiver support sessions meet participation goals and demonstrate improved caregiver knowledge and confidence through pre- and post-surveys.


• Quarterly staff training is completed with strong attendance and improved staff confidence in behavioral intervention strategies.


• Program data is collected, organized, and shared with leadership on a regular basis to support continuous improvement and accountability.

This part-time position will report to the Chief Program Officer and requires being on-site during program hours as well as some evenings and weekends.

Salary range $28-$30/hr. Up to 25 hrs./week(3:00pm-7:00pm M-F).

• This is a part-time, grant-funded 40-week position with a possibility of renewal contingent upon a successful program.
