YMCA of the East Bay is seeking a Family Advocate for the Early Childhood Impact Program in Oakland. You will guide families through goal setting, connect them with community resources, and support children's educational and developmental outcomes.

The role emphasizes coaching, advocacy, and culturally competent engagement with diverse families, with a strong focus on collaboration with community partners and program staff.

Qualifikationen

• BA or BS in family development, psychology, sociology or related field.
• One year of related experience in a non-profit and/or human services setting.
• Cultural awareness and competency with children and families.
• Experience working with low-income communities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to negotiate and mediate to attain win-win situations.
• TB and health clearances at time of employment.
• Fingerprint clearance by DOJ and CCL.
• Valid CA Driver's License with auto insurance.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and other computer programs.

Aufgaben

• Develop positive, respectful relationships with families and act as liaison with partners.
• Conduct outreach, recruitment, and enrollment meeting Head Start standards.
• Provide orientation on program philosophy and services.
• Implement home visits to learn about families and community needs.
• Develop family plans with health goals and regular follow-up.
• Coach, educate, and utilize counseling skills as appropriate.
• Advocate for families and support self-advocacy.
• Support health and wellness data tracking and required health screenings.
