Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to inspect, repair, and certify safety gear.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites, including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, clean, service, repair, reassemble, test, and certify fall protection equipment according to manufacturer and company standards.
  • Perform detailed visual inspections and functional testing to identify deficiencies and recommend repairs or replacements.
  • Prepare repair estimates and communicate recommendations to customers.
  • Complete inspection reports, repair documentation, work orders, and data entry accurately and on time.
  • Maintain rental equipment to ensure it is clean, tested, and ready for deployment.
  • Assist with inventory management, stocking shelves, staging equipment, and loading customer orders.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support additional shop and field responsibilities as assigned.

Description

Total Safety is seeking a Tech I - Fall Protection to join our growing team! If you're safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and enjoy hands-on work, this is an excellent opportunity to build a career with the world's leading provider of integrated industrial safety services.

In this role, you'll inspect, clean, repair, test, and certify fall protection equipment while ensuring our rental fleet is maintained and ready for customer use. You'll play a critical role in helping protect workers by delivering quality service and ensuring equipment meets all applicable safety standards.

  • Inspect, clean, service, repair, reassemble, test, and certify fall protection equipment according to manufacturer and company standards.
  • Perform detailed visual inspections and functional testing to identify deficiencies and recommend repairs or replacements.
  • Prepare repair estimates and communicate recommendations to customers.
  • Complete inspection reports, repair documentation, work orders, and data entry accurately and on time.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of experience in fire protection, industrial safety, petrochemical, refinery, or a related industry preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to qualify for company vehicle insurance.
  • Forklift experience is preferred; willingness to obtain internal forklift certification.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites, including occasional overnight and offshore assignments.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to inspect, repair, and test safety equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and other applicable safety regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer-focused with a professional attitude.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and use hands to perform repairs.
  • Lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work around industrial equipment, shop traffic, noise, chemicals, and other typical industrial environments.
