Job summary

Textron is offering a Fall Co-Op - Configuration Analyst internship in Wichita, KS. You’ll establish and maintain procedures for requesting configuration changes and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to evaluate requests.

This role provides hands‑on experience on real projects alongside experienced professionals during a 10-week summer program. You must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, be able to work onsite full time during the internship, and demonstrate

Responsibilities

  • Establishing and maintaining procedure for requesting configuration changes.
  • Confers with functional areas to understand and evaluate configuration change requests.
  • Analyzes proposed design changes and reports effect on product, including customer satisfaction, safety, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Reviews proposed changes and coordinates with Finance to determine program cost impact.
  • Prioritizes change requests to achieve program operating metrics and reports on impact.
  • Makes recommendations to management regarding cost saving and profitability improvement opportunities.
  • Interfaces with ISC configuration management team to incorporate changes.

Fall Co-Op - Configuration Analyst
Description
Why This Internship

As an intern with Textron, you'll gain hands‑on experience while exploring your interests and building new skills. You'll be supported and challenged to contribute in meaningful ways - working on real projects alongside experienced professionals to prepare for future success.

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for establishing and maintaining procedures for requesting configuration changes. Monitors configuration changes and measures results including reduction in time to build, program cost reduction and quality improvement.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists with establishing and maintaining procedure for requesting configuration changes.
  • Confers with functional areas to fully understand and evaluate configuration change requests.
  • Analyzes proposed design changes and exhibits to prepare report of effect on overall product for management action. Analysis to include/impact upon customer satisfaction, safety, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Reviews proposed changes and coordinates with Finance to determine program cost impact of proposed change.
  • Prioritizes change requests to achieve program operating metrics. Tracks and reports on impact of approved configuration changes on overall program performance.
  • Makes recommendations to program management regarding cost saving and profitability improvement opportunities.
  • Interfaces with ISC configuration management team to incorporate appropriate changes.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Aviation, or other related field.

Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.

Summer internships are 40 hours per week typically from late-May to early-August lasting 10 weeks.

Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
