Job summary

West Ottawa Public Schools invites applications for an 8th Grade Fall Sideline Cheer Head Coach. Location: Harbor Lights & Macatawa Bay Middle Schools. Reports to the Athletic Director. Watching for after-school and Saturday availability through 10/07/2026.

Responsibilities include attending meetings, inventory, safety oversight, and promoting academic excellence among athletes. Candidates must have cheer coaching experience and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching cheer.
• Must be available after school and Saturdays.
• CPR/AED certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Attend athletic department meetings when scheduled.
• Submit annual inventory of uniforms and equipment used by the team.
• Maintain professional competency by attending clinics.
• Keep the Athletic Director informed of problems before/after events.
• Encourage athletes to excel in academics.
• Submit End of Season Checklist in a timely manner.
• Issue, clean, store, and return all athletic equipment.
• Oversee safety conditions during practice.
• Enforce code of conduct and report incidents to the Athletic Director.
• Build positive relationships with players, parents, and administrators.
• Attend practices, games, and meetings punctually.
• Use professional conduct with players, officials, and fans.
• Work with the athletic director to maintain player eligibility information.
• Teach skills for highest achievement in the sport.
• Plan each practice session ahead of time.
• Submit rosters, physical forms, eligibility lists, and training forms signed by parents.
• Be a positive role model.
• Adhere to MHSAA and Board of Education policies.
