Job summary

The Peninsula Jewish Community Center’s Camp KEFF in Foster City, CA is seeking a seasonal Camp Counselor. You will help ensure the safety and enjoyment of campers, engage with youth, and support daily program activities under the Camp Director’s guidance.

Ideal candidates bring experience with youth in TK–5, a passion for creating positive camp experiences, and an interest in Jewish culture. Training is paid and you’ll work a day shift schedule during the assigned sessions.

Qualifications

• Experience working with youth in TK–5 is preferred.
• Passionate about working with youth and creating powerful camp experiences.
• Knowledge of Jewish culture is a plus.
• Experience working in a camp setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the emotional and physical safety of children.
• Resolve conflicts within the group as necessary.
• Engaging with campers.
• Planning and implementation of a variety of programs for campers.
• Work collaboratively with other staff.
• Support goals and spirit of Camp Keff programming.

The Peninsula Jewish Community Center’s (PJCC) Camp KEFF has provided outstanding summer, fall, winter, and spring programs for youth from TK to grade 11 for more than five decades. We provide a safe and nurturing environment where youth & teens can play and grow while loving their authentic selves. Hundreds of campers attend our programs each year to enjoy our week-long sessions filled with Jewish values, inspired to make the world a better place! All our camps are accredited by the American Camp Association.

Camp Counselors are the heart of Camp Keff programs. Under the direction of the Camp Director, counselors work to ensure that each child feels welcome, safe, and loved at camp through their daily interactions with children under their care. Counselors have a special opportunity to make a change in the life of a child while developing valuable professional skills and program planning experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the emotional and physical safety of children

• Uphold the mission and values of the PJCC and Camp Keff

Hours

6:00pm – 7:00pm, Friday October 1, 2026 (paid training) 2:30pm – 6:00pm, Monday – Friday, October 5 – October 9, 2026

Salary

Salary: $18.00/hour, plus paid training. Free membership to the PJCC Athletic Center during the days in which you are contracted.
