Job summary

YMCA is hiring a Seasonal Day Camp Counselor in the Chattanooga area to supervise groups of children during school breaks, 12:30-6pm. You will plan and lead activities, ensure safety and cleanliness, and participate in staff trainings and meetings.

Ideal candidates may have experience with children in camp settings and with diverse populations. Certification in First Aid, CPR, AED, and O2 is required within 30 days of hire, with additional training during the first week.

Qualifications

• Must be 17 years of age or older.
• Previous experience working with children in a camp setting preferred.
• Previous experience with diverse populations of children preferred.

Physical Demands:

This position requires the ability to plan, lead, and participate in a range of activities in various outdoor and indoor settings. It may involve exposure to summer heat and sunlight, outdoor elements, and aquatic environments. The physical demands include walking, stooping, standing, bending, hearing, seeing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Training:

• Certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, and O2 are required within 30 days of hire date
• Redwoods Training required within first week of hire
• New Employee Orientation required within the first week of hire
