Job summary

University Settlement Society Of New York is seeking a part-time Youth Program Assistant to support group leaders and help run activities for up to 20 youth at our East Village site.

You will assist with lesson plans, maintain safety, document program tasks, and coordinate with supervisors; position is 17.5 hours per week, with afternoon and early evening hours.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or HSE preferred, or 1 year of experience working with children under 13.
• Ability to commit for the entire season and stay engaged with the group.

Responsibilities

• Assist Group Leaders in creating and implementing engaging activities for up to 20 youth, ensuring safety and comfort of students throughout program
• Support Group Leaders in designing and implementing lesson plans for multidisciplinary activities using knowledge of positive youth development and incorporating student feedback throughout the summer
• Serve as a positive role model for youth and uphold professional behavior at all times
• Work constructively with co-counselor and other colleagues; communicate regularly with supervisory staff
• Maintain responsibility for designated program supplies and proper use of all facilities, including classrooms
• Assist the Group Leaders with completing all necessary documentation and administrative tasks
• Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor(s)

Work schedule:

Partial Year Part Time, Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday from 3:30pm - 6:00pm, Wednesday from 2:40pm - 6:00pm, and Friday from 1:15pm - 6:00pm, 17.5 hours per week
