FALL ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR / FIRST RESPONDER - J.H. KNOX INTERMEDIATE

Job Description

The Assistant Athletic Director supports the Athletic Director in overseeing the operation of the school's athletic programs. The role involves daily operations of athletic events, maintaining athletic facilities, and assisting with any duties the Athletic Director may require.

Responsibilities
  1. Cover home athletic events, act as athletic admin on duty as needed.
  2. Implement athletic policies and programs of RSS.
  3. Communicate and promote the athletic programs to community, schools, and parents via Parent Square and social media.
  4. Check team rosters, Final Forms, MaxPreps, and eligibility.
  5. Coordinate and supervise gates, seating, and crowd control when requested.
  6. Ensure all coaches complete all required coaching requirements set by NCHSAA and RSS before starting to coach.
  7. Ensure all practices, games, matches, etc. are conducted with concern for safety of student athletes and spectators.
  8. Know the school's EAP for the gym and all outside athletic facilities.
  9. Know the NCHSAA guidelines for inclement weather and heat restrictions.
  10. Maintain clean, year-round condition of athletic facilities.
  11. Prepare facilities to be clean and ready for competition on game days.
  12. Carry out any other duties assigned by the Athletic Director and/or Principal.
  13. Complete required requirements for coaches and Athletic Directors set by NCHSAA and RSS.
First Responder Requirements
  • Maintain certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation from an organization such as the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
  • Maintain certification in first aid from an organization such as the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
  • Maintain training in concussion management as offered by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).
  • Maintain continuing education in injury prevention and management offered by NFHS.
  • Complete 10 hours of staff development each school year specific to first aid, injury recognition and prevention; hours may include recertification/renewals.
  • No coaching responsibilities during the season in which the person is working as a licensed athletic trainer or first responder.
  • Attend all football practices and games unless excused by the superintendent or designated authority; a replacement must be in place for absences.
  • Keep accurate records of all injuries to student athletes.
  • Be “on call” for any emergencies resulting in physical injury to a student that occurs in his or her assigned school.
  • Outside of football, attend to injuries, tape, be accessible in the afternoons, and attend all home contests.
  • Provide written proof of N.C. Athletic Training licensure or First Responder certifications to the Principal each year.
