NIA Community Services Network, Inc. seeks a Teacher/Instructor to plan and lead structured activities in a specialty area, working with a Group Leader for support and guidance.

You will be the lead staff member responsible for behavior management and classroom maintenance, while submitting lesson plans, resource requests, and culminating activity plans when required.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of prior experience teaching or facilitating group activities with students.
  • High school diploma required.
  • College coursework in education and youth development is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead structured activities in a specialty area with a Group Leader.
  • Submit lesson plans by due date and conduct activities according to approved plans.
  • Submit plans for culminating activity to be showcased at program culminating event.
  • Assist with activities led by specialists, subcontractors, or colleagues.
  • Perform assigned activities, transitions, snack periods, and dismissal.
  • Maintain group organization and positive behavior management at all times.

Job description

The Teacher/Instructor is responsible for the planning and leading of structured activities in a particular specialty area. Activities will be led with the assistance of a Group Leader or fellow staff member. While Teachers/Instructors work in partnership with Group Leaders, they are the lead staff member responsible for behavior management and classroom maintenance.Duties and Responsibilities:Participant SafetyReport all concerns regarding the well being of participants to immediate supervisor in a timely manner and no later than the conclusion of the last activity of each daySeek immediate supervisor or emergency assistance when a participant is injuredEnsure proper supervision of assigned participants at all timesVerify identity before dismissing participants to approved guardian as listed on participant enrollment formActivity PlanningSubmit lesson plans for each activity by specified due date, and conduct activity according to approved plansSubmit NIA material requests for approval by supervisorInclude an active role for Group Leader in activity plan, inclusive of classroom management and activity prepSubmit a plan for culminating activity to be showcased at the program culminating eventActively assist with all activities being led by specialists, subcontractors, and/or colleaguesDaily ProceduresPerform assigned activity, transition, snack period, and dismissalUse positive behavior management with assigned group at all timesMaintain group organization and manage group effectivelyRequired Skills:At least 1 year of prior experience teaching or facilitating group activities with studentsHigh school diploma requiredCollege coursework in the areas of education, youth development is expectedBilingual applicants are encouraged to applyEducation and Experience:Elementary Education: 1 year (Preferred)Instructor: 1 year (Preferred)Job Type: Part-timeEducation and Experience:Elementary Education: 1 year (Preferred)Instructor: 1 year (Preferred)Job Type: Part-timeSchedule: Monday-Friday 2:20m-5:30pmWork Location: One locationNIA Community Services Network, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
