Job summary

University Settlement Society Of New York is hiring an Activity Specialist II to lead inclusive workshops for groups of 15-20 students at our Lower Manhattan location. The role involves coordinating sessions in dance, music, leadership, sports, ESL, visual arts, and computer, while connecting students’ experiences to a thematic curriculum.

You will design engaging lessons, employ varied teaching strategies, and arrange field trips with guest speakers to build career awareness and community

Qualifications

• Previous experience teaching/facilitating workshops in one of the subject areas.
• High School Diploma or HSE required.
• Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Attend planning, supervisor, and evaluation sessions.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to commit for the entire school year.
• Must be over 18 years old.
• Highly energetic, dynamic, and positive.

Responsibilities

• Activity Specialist II will work with groups of 15-20 students.
• Facilitating sessions in dance, music, leadership, sports, ESL, visual arts, and computer.
• Integrate life experiences with thematic curriculum.
• Employ a range of teaching strategies for inclusive learning.
• Incorporate career awareness activities, field trips, and guest speakers.
• Write, revise and implement lesson plans using DYCD framework for director approval.
• Monitor and report on students’ progress throughout the term.
