Job summary

Amtrak in Washington, DC is seeking an AWS Java Full-Stack Developer Intern to assist design, develop, test, and deploy cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, and modern front-end tech.

You will collaborate with engineers to build secure, scalable solutions and gain hands-on cloud experience, with Agile practices. Rail pass privileges and one PTO day per academic year are included.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Management & Information Systems.
• At least 1 year of undergraduate studies completed or sophomore status.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.

• Develop RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.

Job Summary

The AWS Java Full-Stack Developer Intern will support the design, development, testing, and deployment of cloud-native applications and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, and modern front-end technologies. Collaborate with engineering teams to develop secure, scalable solutions, assist with cloud migration and application modernization initiatives, support CI/CD and DevSecOps practices, and participate in Agile software development activities. Gain hands-on experience in full-stack development, AWS cloud services, secure coding, and enterprise application delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
• Must be actively pursuing a degree in Engineering, Computer Science and/or Management & Information Systems.
• Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS services.
• Understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
• Prior experience with web frameworks (e.g., Java, Spring Boot, Python).
• Coursework or projects demonstrating an interest in cloud computing or data science.

Pay Transparency

The hourly range is $18.00 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc. In addition, paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.
