Job summary

Safran S.A. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to join the Engineering Technical Support Team in Grand Prairie, Texas.

You will support maintenance of Safran actuation systems for aircraft, under supervision of the Lead Mechanical Engineer, contributing to troubleshooting, documentation, and design of test equipment. You will gain hands-on experience with 3D modeling (SolidWorks, CATIA, Pro/E, AutoCAD), and you will learn to update manuals, run tests, and train technicians in repair

Qualifications

• Currently majoring in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering field.

Responsibilities

• Review and update the Maintenance Manual and supporting documents.
• Assist the Engineer with design of test equipment and tools; create 3D models with Solidworks.
• Troubleshoot and maintain test equipment.
• Train technicians on repair of Safran units.
• Provide support to technicians with troubleshooting and technical questions.
• Provide weekly project and task summary reports.

Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer Intern will be a part of the Engineering Technical Support Team which support the operational maintenance of Safran Actuation systems on the commercial and military aircraft. The Mechanical Engineer intern will be working under the supervision of the Lead Mechanical Engineer to support the maintenance of these products.

Essential Job Functions

• Technical Review of the updated Maintenance Manual and update all the supporting documents
• Assist the Engineer:
  • Design of test equipment and tools
  • Creating 3D models with Solidworks
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance of test equipment
  • Training technician on the repair of Safran units
• Provide support to technicians such as troubleshooting and technical questions
• Provide weekly summary report of projects and tasksOther duties may be assigned. Required Competencies

Education/Experience

• Currently majoring in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Has basic skills in analytical or scientific method
• Has basic knowledge in engineering concepts
• Basic knowledge in mechanical analysis related to kinematics, tolerance stack-ups, and strength / robustness
• Familiar with 3D modeling software such as Solidworks, CATIA, Pro\E, and AutoCAD
• Familiar with standard mechanical engineering tools
• Basic knowledge of electronic tools (Multi-meter, Power Supply, etc.)
• Proficient with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
