Bergen-Lafayette Montessori School (BLMS) seeks a dedicated, credentialed Montessori educator to lead our Elementary program. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a newly forming classroom with the support of a committed leadership team and a collaborative school culture.

Title: Head Teacher – Montessori Elementary
Ages Served: 6–12 years (Lower and Upper Elementary, starting with ~7 Lower El. students)
Class Size: Max 15 students total
Schedule: Full-time
Location: Relocating to 200 Monticello Ave., Jersey City in August 2025
The successful candidate will plan, prepare, and deliver a developmentally appropriate, high-quality Montessori curriculum and help establish the classroom’s routines, expectations, and culture.
Required:
MACTE Montessori Elementary I credential
Minimum 3 years of classroom teaching experience at the Elementary level
Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred:
Montessori Elementary II credential (Upper Elementary)
Experience working in diverse, inclusive educational environments
Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish)
Strong planning and organizational skills
Deep understanding of child development and Montessori pedagogy
High attention to detail in classroom preparation and documentation
Professional, calm demeanor with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Team player who values respectful collaboration and constructive feedback
Commitment to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning
Annual Salary: Starting at $50,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications
