Job summary

City of New York seeks a dedicated Associate Benefits Opportunity Specialist II to support Fair Hearing activities within FIA at FIA and HRA. The role involves presenting at hearings, assembling evidence, coordinating settlements, and ensuring accurate case documentation across multiple systems.

Qualified candidates will have a four-year high school diploma with relevant social/human services experience or a BA with 1.5 years in this field. Training and performance review duties are included.

Qualifications

• A four-year high school diploma or educational equivalent plus three years of full-time experience in social/human services or related settings.
• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college plus eighteen months of full-time experience as a Benefits Opportunity Specialist.
• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college plus eighteen months of full-time experience as described above.
• College credit may be substituted for this experience with 60 credits equaling 9 months; at least 18 months total experience required.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Agency at NYS Administrative Hearings and present/defend cases with evidence.
• Prepare and transmit complete evidence packets and coordinate resolutions and settlements.
• Ensure case actions are reflected in WMS, POS, NYCWAY, FHIS and related systems.
• Review and approve SDRC evidence packets and guide SDRC staff to readiness for hearings.
• Train Fair Hearing staff and participate in performance reviews and improvement efforts.
• Meet with Center Directors and staff to review trends and outcomes.
