Job summary

STMicroelectronics in Coppell, Texas, is seeking a Failure Analysis Technician to support engineers with various analysis activities. Candidates will be involved in using Non-destructive Inspection tools and preparing samples in a Chemical lab environment.

The ideal candidate should have an Associate degree or certification in Engineering Technician discipline, along with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team are essential.

Job description

YOUR ROLE

As a Failure analysis technician your role is to support Failure Analysis Engineers on several failure analysis activities corresponding to Non‑destructive verification, Sample preparation and Physical Analysis.

In this role the candidate will be working close to the Failure Analysis Engineer and will be exposed to some of the following failure analysis tools and techniques depending on the need of the lab:

• Non‑Destructive Inspection tools like Optical/IR Microscopes, X‑ray inspection (2D/3D), Scanning Acoustic Microscopy (SAM).
• Sample Preparation tools and techniques such as Reballing, Integrated Circuit (IC) Package reconditioning, IC Re‑packaging using bonder, IC Package Decapsulation, Package Backside Preparation tools.
• Physical Analysis tools and techniques such as mechanical polishers, Ion‑Miller, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) inspection, Focused Ion Bean Cross sections (using FIB/Plasma FIB).

The candidate should be proficient in the following areas:
