Job summary

HM Electronics Inc is seeking a Failure Analysis Engineer III for a temporary (3 months) position in Carlsbad, CA. The role focuses on analyzing top PCB failure modes, identifying root causes, and implementing countermeasures in collaboration with Manufacturing and QA teams.

The candidate will develop analysis tools, contribute to MES data feedback, and drive continuous improvement through Pareto-chart driven activities.

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of electrical PCB test methods (In-Circuit, Functional, Embedded, System Level).
• Expert understanding of factory operations (SMT, QA, etc.).
• Experience in setting up analysis troubleshooting procedures, equipment and methods.
• Experience with defect and corrective action reporting (Pareto charts, yield reports).
• Familiar with fault tree analysis flowcharts and troubleshooting guides.

Responsibilities

What you will need to succeed:

• Qualifications
  • Must have a thorough understanding of electrical PCB test methods (In-Circuit, Functional PCB, Embedded, System Level).
  • Must have an expert understanding of factory operations (SMT, Quality Assurance, etc.)
  • Familiar with setting up analysis troubleshooting procedures, equipment and methods.
  • Familiar with defect and corrective action reporting (Pareto charts, yield reports, etc.)
  • Familiar with the creation of fault tree analysis flowcharts and troubleshooting guides.
• Experience
  • 5 + years of experience in designing, providing test solutions, or performing failure and root cause analysis for electrical PCBs
• Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field is required.

The posted pay range, $45.58 to $60.77 per houris what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. This may vary depending on experience and other factors.
