ManpowerGroup is seeking a Failure Analysis Engineer I for a 100% onsite role in Plymouth, MN. The position pays $31–$36 per hour on a W2 basis and requires a strong background in electrical/electronic engineering and failure analysis.

The role focuses on investigating returned medical devices, performing multi-disciplinary evaluations, and developing robust investigation strategies aligned with regulated quality systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
• Experience performing root cause investigations and technical failure analysis.
• Experience working within regulated quality systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and troubleshooting; ability to read schematics and test protocols.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills; proficient in MS Office and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations of returned medical devices and components tied to customer complaints.
• Perform electrical, functional, mechanical, and visual evaluations to identify failure modes.
• Develop investigation strategies using complaint information, device history, and product design knowledge.
• Execute root cause analysis and escalate for systemic trends.
• Document activities and conclusions in complaint handling systems; produce audit-ready reports.

What's the Job?

• Conduct comprehensive investigations of returned medical devices and associated components tied to customer complaints.
• Perform electrical, functional, mechanical, and visual evaluations to determine complaint validity and failure mechanisms.
• Develop investigation strategies using complaint information, device history, and product design knowledge.
• Execute root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies and support escalation when systemic or emerging trends are identified.
• Document investigation activities and conclusions in complaint handling systems to ensure traceable, technically sound, and audit-ready reports.

What's Needed?

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience performing root cause investigations and technical failure analysis.
• Experience working within regulated quality systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and troubleshooting techniques, including the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and test protocols.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
