Description
The Tulane National Primate Research Center (TNPRC) is seeking applications for the position of veterinarian within the Division of Veterinary Medicine to help meet the needs of its expanding program.
The TNPRC is one of seven National Primate Research Centers in the U.S., housing approximately 5,000 nonhuman primates (NHP) of six different species. Its research focuses on infectious diseases, especially AIDS, with additional work in emerging infectious diseases, gene therapy, biodefense, enteric disease, NHP behavior, and medicine and surgery.
Responsibilities include general medical and surgical care of breeding and research animals, research support, and training of investigators, veterinary residents, students, and technicians. The successful candidate will join a team of ACLAM-certified veterinarians and may participate in independent or collaborative research. This is a non-tenured clinical track position.
Qualifications
The candidate must have a DVM/VMD from an AVMA-accredited college and be licensed in one of the 50 states. ACLAM certification or eligibility is preferred. Excellent communication skills, team orientation, curiosity, and initiative are essential.
