Faculty Trainer Description

Reporting to the Executive Director of Leadership and Professional Development, this Faculty Trainer position will primarily focus on developing faculty. The role designs and delivers evidence-based training programs to support faculty development. This role collaborates with academic stakeholders to create tailored learning experiences to meet the needs of the students. Preference given to applicants with experience in training development and delivery for nursing or health professions faculty.

Responsibilities
  • Professionalism: Maintain professional standards, attitude, and performance levels to ensure effective, safe, ethical, and legal performance in all aspects of the position. Adhere to South College's Commitment to Behavior Standards.
  • Faculty Training Design and Delivery: Develop and deliver synchronous, hybrid, and asynchronous training programs tailored to the needs of a diverse faculty population, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and evidence-based practices.
  • Training Assessment: Devise modes of assessment to measure the effectiveness of learning initiatives and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Program Evaluation: Review program evaluations, test results, and feedback from participants and leadership to recommend improvements for training programs.
  • Training Media Selection: Identify and select appropriate training media and methodologies based on audience learning styles, course content, and learners’ position in the educational process.
  • Training Facilitation: Facilitate and deliver training sessions, track faculty participation, and ensure compliance with training requirements.
  • Innovation in Training: Stay current on virtual learning trends, emerging technologies, and instructional methods to keep training programs innovative and effective.
  • Digital Learning Enhancement: Identify and act on opportunities to improve digital training instruction and faculty learning experiences.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with the Executive Director of Leadership and Professional Development and other academic stakeholders to align training programs with institutional priorities.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the continuous enhancement of faculty development and instructional practices.
Requirements
Education
  • Master's Level Degree or equivalent in Education, Learning and Development, or a related field.
  • PhD or EdD preferred.
Experience
  • Required:
  • 3-5 years of experience in faculty training development, design and delivery working in a large institution.
  • Solid knowledge of adult learning theory, leadership development best practices, and inclusive excellence framework, including how to apply it in the faculty training design process.
  • Solid planning, organizational and multi-tasking skills. Basic project management skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills necessary to interact with institutional leadership, faculty, and staff.
  • Background in training and learning design experience using Rise 360 or Articulate or similar training design methodology.
  • Proficient in audio and video editing.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver on-time results.
  • Ability to travel to campuses to deliver in-person professional development trainings as well as the expertise to deliver virtual trainings.
Preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in faculty training design and delivery in higher education.
  • Familiarity with Canvas or similar learning management systems.
