UC San Francisco invites applications for the position of Faculty Radiochemist. Appointments may be at Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the In Residence or Adjunct series, depending on qualifications.

The candidate will develop molecular imaging agents across the research pipeline and lead an externally funded program with strong collaboration across departments. The role emphasizes mentorship, teaching, and service; required qualifications include a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Radiochemistry, Nuclear Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely related discipline.
• At least two years postdoctoral or equivalent research experience.
• Evidence of success in securing external research funding as PI and/or in collaboration.
• Expertise in radiochemistry and related experimental methodologies.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching, mentorship, and collaborative research.
• Preferred: regulatory oversight of radiopharmaceuticals in human subjects; experience with regulatory submissions (IRB, FDA IND).
• Experience with radiopharmaceutical production workflows and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Advance development of molecular imaging agents from early tracer development to first-in-man studies.
• Establish and maintain a nationally recognized, externally funded research program.
• Mentor students and postdoctoral researchers; contribute to departmental and university service.
• Teach residents, fellows, medical students, and master’s students; foster an inclusive academic environment.
