Acute Care Surgeon - Division of Acute Care Surgery
Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center located in Wilmington, NC
The Division of Acute Care Surgery at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHNHRMC) is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Acute Care Surgeon to join our high-volume, academically focused group on the coast of North Carolina. This full-time position includes clinical responsibilities in Emergency General Surgery, Trauma, and Surgical Critical Care, with additional opportunities for research, education, and quality improvement.
Our team consists of 7 full-time Acute Care Surgery faculty supported by surgical residents and advanced practice providers. The division handles approximately 3,800 trauma cases annually, with a similar volume of EGS patients. We are an ACS-verified Level II trauma center actively preparing for Level I verification.
The hospital is an 800-bed not-for-profit regional referral and teaching center, affiliated with the UNC School of Medicine, and offers a broad spectrum of medical and surgical specialties.

Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive care in Trauma, Emergency General Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care
Participate in the education of general surgery residents and medical students
Engage in quality improvement initiatives and system-based practice enhancements
Contribute to research and academic productivity within the division
Collaborate with other surgical subspecialties including MIS/Bariatrics, Colorectal, and Surgical Oncology
Qualifications
MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
Board certified or board eligible in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care
Eligible for North Carolina medical licensure
Demonstrated interest in teaching, research, and quality improvement
Experience with rib plating and/or robotics preferred but not required
