Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a qualified instructor to teach Physical Therapist Assistant courses at a Texas community college, serving a multicultural student population. The role emphasizes mentorship, diverse instructional strategies, and ongoing program improvement.

You will evaluate student progress, participate in curriculum and learning-outcome assessment, and collaborate on department governance. Travel to clinical sites may be required, with evenings and some weekends often involved.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree with licensure/certification, or registration and three years of non-teaching work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of post-licensure clinical PT experience.
  • Neurological expertise across ages.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, online resources and classroom tech.
  • Proficiency with Blackboard LMS.
  • Proven active and applied teaching methods.
  • Current knowledge of the discipline and subject matter.
  • Ability to use technology as an instructional aid.
  • Strong communication with diverse students.
  • Interpersonal and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
  • Willingness for evenings/weekends and multi-campus work.
  • Confidentiality of student information.
  • Meet attendance and final-grade deadlines.
  • Comply with college policies and teaching standards.
  • Must domicile in Texas during employment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach PTA courses to a multicultural community college student population.

Job Responsibilities

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or Physical Therapist Assistant with current unencumbered licensure, certification, or registration OR associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant with current unencumbered licensure, certification, or registration and three years of non-teaching work experience
  • Minimum of three years of full-time or equivalent post-licensure clinical experience in physical therapy practice
  • Contemporary expertise in neurological diseases and conditions for patients of all ages
  • Proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and classroom technologies
  • Proficiency using an online learning management system such as Blackboard
  • Documented experience with active and applied teaching and learning methodologies
  • Current and up-to-date knowledge of the discipline and subject matter
  • Experience using technology as an instructional aid
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students with varied skills and backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain an established schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work across possible multiple campus locations that may vary by semester
  • Commitment to confidentiality of student information
  • Ability to meet attendance certification and final-grade submission deadlines
  • Must comply with college policies, procedures, and professional teaching standards
  • Must maintain a domicile in the State of Texas while working for the college and throughout employment
