Job summary

UTMB Health in Galveston, TX seeks a Full-Time Optometrist for the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual NeuroSciences to join a growing academic health sciences center.

The role covers full-range eye care—from primary eye care to subspecialty referrals—with opportunities to participate in resident and fellowship education, committees, and health-system initiatives on campus and across Galveston County.

Qualifications

• M.D. or D.O degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of ACGME accredited Optometry Residency Program.
• U.S. Board Certification/Board Eligibility.
• Valid State of Texas medical
• U.S. Citizenship or Employment Authorization to work in the U.S. we cannot support any Visa requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide full range of eye care including primary eye care and diagnosis of eye conditions.
• Prescribe and fit corrective lenses; provide initial treatment for medical eye conditions.
• Conduct same day triage of new and urgent patients; refer to subspecialists as needed.
• Faculty participate in resident and fellowship education programs and may serve on department/health system committees.

Education

M.D. or D.O degree from an accredited medical school.

Completion of ACGME accredited Optometry Residency Program.

U.S. Board Certification/Board Eligibility.

Valid State of Texas medical
