An established industry player is seeking a dedicated faculty member for a pioneering center focused on suicide prevention. This role offers the chance to contribute to vital research and education, fostering a collaborative environment with diverse partnerships. Ideal candidates will possess a strong academic background in relevant fields and a passion for advancing mental health initiatives. Join a forward-thinking team committed to making a significant impact in the community and shaping future professionals in the field.
The Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University invites individuals to apply for a faculty position in the David Farber ASPIRE Center, a newly developing center focused on understanding and treating individuals of all ages who are at increased risk for suicide. This will be a faculty appointment within the medical school at the Associate or Full Professor level.
Candidates from underrepresented backgrounds and those who will advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice through their teaching and service are strongly encouraged to apply.
The academic center is focused on suicide prevention research and education; however, it will also include outpatient clinical operations and function as a satellite to the larger outpatient psychiatric practice housed within the department. The clinic provides an intentional focus on family and family-based intervention. Faculty will have the potential to utilize this clinical setting for research inquiry.
The center has strong partnerships with Addiction Medicine, Neuroscience, Public Health, Emergency Medicine, and Primary Care at Thomas Jefferson University, along with other Philadelphia-based collaborators. Candidates' academic backgrounds may be in Psychology, Neuroscience, Public Health, or any discipline that aligns with the center's focus.
Strong candidates will have the ability and desire to be a foundational research team member and to build an independent and sustainable research trajectory in suicide prevention. The department seeks someone interested in developing a research program that targets the unique qualities of the David Farber ASPIRE Center to help it grow into a premier suicide prevention program regionally.
Interested candidates may submit a CV, cover letter, and research statement to Dr. Matthew Wintersteen, Center Director, at matthew.wintersteen@jefferson.edu.
