Job summary

Kent State University at Trumbull invites applications for a Faculty Non-Tenure Track-9 Mo position in Veterinary Technology. The successful candidate will teach in our AVMA CVTEA-accredited program, across courses and labs, at the Trumbull Campus in Warren, Ohio and other locations.

Responsibilities include preparing syllabi and materials, delivering engaging coursework, evaluating students, and meeting with the Program Director for ongoing teaching development.

Qualifications

• Ability to relate to undergraduate students and communicate effectively.
• DEA registration and TDDD license must be obtained and maintained for the site.

Faculty Non-Tenure Track-9 Mo

Physical Location:

Trumbull Campus - Warren, Ohio and Off-site locations in Trumbull and surrounding counties

Basic Function

The Department of Veterinary Technology- Kent State University at Trumbull invites applications for a non-tenure track (NTT) faculty beginning January 14, 2027 who can teach a range of classroom and laboratories in our AVMA CVTEA accredited veterinary technology program.

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:

Teaches one or more courses in the Veterinary Technology Program. It can be classroom or laboratories or a combination. This may include animal handling and clinical techniques of a variety of species.

Prepares and delivers learning activities to achieve course outcomes

Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts

Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinations

Maintains and submits student attendance records, grades, and other required documentation by specified deadlines

Creates a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and

collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge, student

and faculty interaction, and support for learners

Periodic meetings with Program Director related to teaching duties, training, and development

Follow current course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms for the program and/or develop such when indicated by the Program Director.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD) of Medicine licensure in the State of Ohio
• The successful candidate should have very good communication skills with an ability to relate to undergraduate students; a broad knowledge of veterinary technology is preferred with at least two years’ work experience.
• The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain the appropriate Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration and Ohio Terminal Distributor of Dangerous Drugs (TDDD) license for Kent State University at Trumbull, as required for the position.

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience teaching a veterinary technology course(s).

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
