Job Details

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Jefferson Health is recruiting for a Medical Physicist to join a dynamic and collegiate Radiation Oncology Department and Medical Physics Division.

Job Description

Positional Overview:

Primary responsibilities include patient care involving external beam radiotherapy, SRS, SBRT, HDR, and other clinical services. The physicist will contribute to the quality assurance program and participate in teaching medical physics residents. Opportunities for involvement in advanced clinical practices and research are available. Faculty appointments are possible for qualified candidates.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Medical Physics and be board certified or eligible. The position is open to experienced applicants and recent residency graduates. Clinical work will be conducted at Jefferson Health/Asplundh Cancer Pavilion, which includes a team of radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, physicists, and a medical physics resident. Equipment includes Varian TrueBeam, EDGE linear accelerators, and Siemens CT simulator. The ideal candidate is flexible, rigorous, and communicative, fitting well into Jefferson's collegiate environment.

This role offers a balance between clinical work, research opportunities, and equipment access within a large hospital network, promoting a healthy work-life balance.

The Thomas Jefferson University Medical Physics Division comprises 27 physicists, 16 dosimetrists, 7 residents, and 4 research fellows across 8 locations. The division leads diverse research funded by various agencies, focusing on areas like functional imaging, AI, MR-guided therapy, and clinical trials. The department also runs a Medical Physics Residency Program and actively teaches residents.
