Job summary

The University of Chicago is seeking a People Services Generalist to support BSD departments, focusing on Academic Affairs and HR. You will manage faculty recruitment life cycles, onboarding, offboarding, and HR reporting, while partnering with leaders to ensure compliant processes and confidential handling of information.

You will collaborate with international affairs, payroll, and HR teams, draft templates and offers, and contribute to employee engagement initiatives in a fast-paced academic

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2–5 years of work experience in a related HR discipline.
• Experience in higher education or healthcare HR is preferred.
• Experience with Workday or other HRIS systems.
• Experience with Interfolio.
• Strong customer service mindset and problem-solving approach.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a key resource to BSD staff and departmental administrators on HR matters.
• Resolve HR issues with Payroll, Shared Services, and Student Employment.
• Generate compliance and HR metric reports using Workday.
• Coordinate visa and international affairs as needed for the unit.
• Maintain knowledge of HR policies and stay compliant with laws.
• Support training, communication, engagement, and wellness activities.
• Manage the full life cycle of Student Employment and related processes.
