The University of Chicago seeks full-time faculty in the Department of Neurological Surgery, offering probationary positions from Assistant to Professor levels. Salary Range: Assistant Professor: $425,000 - $625,000 per year; Associate Professor: $475,000 - $650,000 per year; Professor: $500,000 - $650,000 per year
The University of Chicago’s Department of Neurological is searching for full-time faculty members at any rank. This is an exciting opportunity to be a member of our growing neurosurgical program as we welcome our Inaugural Chair, Dr. Mohamad Bydon. This position will primarily be located at our UChicago Medicine Hyde Park location with future opportunities to practice at off-site locations. Appointees will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient neurosurgical care, participate in call coverage rotation, and collaborate with a team of neurosurgeons, neurologists, residents, and APPs. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent upon qualifications. Appointees will join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners in UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, the University of Chicago and its affiliates. The University also has a robust Neuroscience Institute, which brings together more than 90 neuroscientists based in academic and clinical departments across the campus into a cohesive program. The Department of Neurological Surgery currently has 12 full-time attending neurosurgeons with plans to expand in the coming years.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent; 2) have or be eligible for permanent medical licensure in the State of Illinois and State of Indiana; and 3) be Board Certified/Board Eligible by The American Board of Neurological Surgery.
Additional fellowship training inneurological surgery or equivalent experience is preferred but not required. We especially welcome applicants with an academic interest and/or potential for research-based program in a field relevant to clinical practice, medical education, and/or quality improvement.
