Job description

Faculty

University of Colorado AnschutzDepartment: School of Medicine, Office of Advance Practice.

Job Title: Faculty Fellow, Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship Common Application.

Position #:00849953 - Requisition #:40358.

The University of Colorado's Advanced Practice Fellowship (APF) Programs are 12-month post-graduate fellowship programs dedicated to enhancing the development of early-career Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (ACNPs) and Physician Associates (PAs) or for more experienced clinicians transitioning from a different specialty. Recognizing that ACNPs and PAs are increasingly utilized in all phases of healthcare, our program's mission is to provide the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for a provider to succeed in the challenging world of surgery and medicine. Since these are rigorous and lengthy fellowship programs, the best candidates are those who truly want to spend an additional 12 months in training.

Due to overlapping interest for some candidates, our application is a shared application with the following fellowship tracks: Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, Medical Critical Care, and Hospital Medicine. The application will ask you to indicate and rank areas of interest, and it is possible you will be invited to interview with multiple fellowship tracks based on your selections.

More Information can be found:

  • Hospital Med - Advanced Practice Fellowship in Hospital Medicine | CU Anschutz
  • MICU - APP Medical Critical Care Fellowship
  • Surgery & Surgery Critical Care - APP Fellowship Program

Our cohort start dates are April 1st and September 1st. Your application will be accepted for a specific cohort and start date only. Applying does NOT make you eligible for BOTH cohorts. Any changes to application or interview timelines will be reflected on the website.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive, evidence-based care to patients across inpatient medicine/critical care/surgical settings under the supervision of attending physicians and advanced practice providers while progressively developing clinical autonomy.
  • Actively participate in all required clinical rotations, educational conferences, simulation activities, and didactic sessions designed to develop specialty-specific knowledge, procedural skills, and clinical decision-making.
  • Function as an integral member of multidisciplinary healthcare teams, communicating effectively with physicians, APPs, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Seek and incorporate feedback from faculty and preceptors, complete self-directed learning activities, maintain required certifications, and demonstrate ongoing professional development throughout the fellowship year.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, research, or scholarly projects that support clinical excellence and advance the role of advanced practice providers within the healthcare system.
