Job summary

Relativity Space in Long Beach is seeking a skilled tester to design, build, and operate pressurized cryogenic, pneumatic, and hydraulic test systems for rocket testing.

You will develop real‑time data control systems, advise engineers on testing practices, identify and mitigate hazards, and create robust test plans to ensure reliable outcomes while advancing a cutting‑edge aerospace program.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience with pressurized flight components is preferred.
  • Ability to work with hazardous equipment and high-energy systems.
  • Experience building or maintaining complex fluid‑mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate pressurized cryogenic, pneumatic, and hydraulic test systems.
  • Develop and manage real-time data control systems for monitoring and analysis.
  • Provide guidance to engineers on testing practices, capabilities, and limitations.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate hazards to ensure a safe testing environment.

About the Team

The Factory Test team is responsible for all hazardous testing in our Long Beach facilities. We use our breadth of experience and collaborative engineering approach to support everything from very large structural tests to precise valve actuation. To that end, we design, build, and operate all test assets in Long Beach from initial concept to test execution. If you enjoy working on a multi‑disciplinary team with a broad mandate and want to get hands on hardware, this is the team for you.

About the Role
  • Design, build, and operate pressurized cryogenic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to support cutting‑edge rocket testing.
  • Develop and manage advanced data control systems for real‑time monitoring and analysis.
  • Provide expert guidance to engineers on testing best practices, system capabilities, and operational limitations.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate hazards to ensure a safe and efficient testing environment.
  • Create, maintain, and refine test plans and procedures to drive consistent and reliable testing outcomes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve reliability issues, improving hardware performance and test efficiency.
About You

High School Diploma or GED. 3+ years of relevant technical experience, including (but not limited to):

  • Experience working with pressurized flight components.
  • Operating hazardous equipment with multiple sources of energy.
  • Building complex fluid‑mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency with basic office software (Excel, Word, Outlook, Slack).

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Associates Degree or trade certifications in pertinent disciplines such as aviation or automotive mechanic.
  • In‑depth knowledge and experience with test automation, data acquisition, and control systems.
  • Knowledge of rocket engine components such as pumps, valves, regulators, check valves, as well as electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic valves, actuators, and other fluid system components.
Compensation

Hiring Range: $33.80–$50.70 USD.
