Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on motors, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, and production machines.
  • Identify problems by observing equipment in operation and using precision instruments.
  • Measure parts with calipers, micrometers, and other tools to ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • Adjust device parts and control instruments using hand tools, levels, and straightedges.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment and comply with procedures.
  • Assist with daily maintenance and meet production goals.

Responsibilities

Summary:

The Factory Technician will repair, adjust, and maintain seafood processing machinery and related equipment in a shore plant production facility including pumps, motors, conveyors, gears, hydraulic systems and pneumatic equipment, heading, gutting, fillet and mince machines.

  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance and repair requirements on motors, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyor systems, and production machines as directed.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and applying precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, and straightedges.
  • Performs routine daily maintenance and adjustments to equipment as required to meet production goal and requests.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)

  • High School diploma or GED required.

Preferred education and experience

  • 2 years’ experience in applicable position or similar experience or applicable accredited technical training.

Additional eligibility requirements (language skills, training, certifications, DL, licensing):

  • HAZWOPER certified or ability to get certified in 1 year

Work environment (includes travel/on-call):

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
