Job summary

Trident Seafoods in Alaska is seeking a Facilities Operator to operate, maintain, and repair a range of industrial equipment across edible oil and meal production, water treatment, and fuel facilities. You will work under supervision to perform maintenance, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with SOPs.

The role requires at least six years in facilities operations, plus welding, plumbing, or electrical repair skills, and certifications such as HAZWOPER and OSHA 10.

Qualifications

  • Six years’ experience in facilities operations or similar work.
  • Secondary skills: welding, plumbing, basic electrical troubleshooting, or equipment repair.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • HAZWOPER Certification (training provided if needed).
  • OSHA 10 Hour Certification (training provided if needed).

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain and repair machinery in edible oil production, meal production, water treatment and fuel farm.
  • Use hand tools to perform basic adjustments under supervision of a senior operator.
  • Monitor operation indicators such as fuel or material levels and auger speeds to ensure equipment is operating properly.
  • Startup and shutdown of equipment in assigned area as appropriate.
  • Lubricate and clean parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Collect, log, and maintain information and data to meet Trident and regulatory standards.
  • Observe mechanical devices to detect issues and locate faults.
  • Repair or replace defective parts.
  • Maintain knowledge of SOPs, codes and standards.
  • Schedule repairs and projects with supervisor or plant management.
  • May supervise a smaller facility or department operation.
  • Conduct tests to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Provide data and reports to management as requested.
  • Support during regulatory audits as needed.
  • Conduct audits and inspections of facility performance and activities.
  • Ensure timely completion of corrective actions from audits.

Responsibilities

The Facilities Operator will operate, maintain and repair various machinery and equipment in a designated area such as edible oil production, meal production, water treatment and fuel farm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uses hand tools to perform basic adjustments and maintenance to equipment under the supervision of a senior operator.

  • Monitors various operation indicators to such as fuel or material levels and auger speeds to ensure equipment is operating properly.

  • Performs or supervises startup and shut down of equipment in assigned area as appropriate.

  • Performs basic adjustments and maintenance independently as directed by a supervisor or senior operator.

  • Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment, and machinery.

  • Collects, logs, and maintains information and data as needed to meet Trident and regulatory standards.

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation to detect and locate issues.

  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of company, industry and regulatory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), codes and standards.

  • Works with Supervisor or plant management to schedule repairs and projects.

  • May supervise a smaller facility or department operation.

  • Conducts tests as needed to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Provides data and reports to management as requested to update on facility operations and issues.

  • Participates in, contributes to, and provides support during regulatory audits as needed.

  • Conducts audits and inspections of facility performance and activities.

  • Ensures proper and timely completion of corrective actions as a result of audits and inspections.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.

  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6 years’ experience in Facilities Operations or similar experience.

  • Has developed secondary skill sets such as welding, plumbing, basic electrical troubleshooting or specialized equipment repair, service and rebuild.

  • HS Diploma or equivalent (or degree, etc.)

  • HAZWOPER Certification (if not current, training will be provided by Trident)

  • OSHA 10 Hour Certification (if not current, training will be provided by Trident)

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Work Environment:The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move 10 to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception.

Mental Activities:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, speak, write and understand English, and to use customer service skills. The employee is frequently required to use interpersonal and teamwork skills. The employee is occasionally required to use creativity, independent judgment, discretion, and problem analysis.
