Job summary

Boxabl is seeking a detail-oriented Factory Controller in North Las Vegas to manage cost accounting for our manufacturing operations. You will track costs, analyze variances, and report COGM/COGS and margins, partnering with production, engineering, and supply chain to drive efficiency and profitability.

The ideal candidate holds a BA/BS in accounting or finance, with 3–7 years in cost accounting within manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• CPA license preferred.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
• 3–7 years of progressive cost accounting in manufacturing/industrial environments.
• Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, overhead allocation, and inventory valuation methods.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH).
• Experience with ERP systems including cost and inventory modules (SAP, Oracle, Infor, NetSuite).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve standard cost system for materials, labor, and overhead.
• Perform monthly cost variance analysis and prepare explanations for management.
• Calculate and report COGM, COGS, and gross margin by product line/plant.
• Assist month-end and year-end closing with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Monitor and reconcile inventory accounts; support cycle counting and physical inventory.
• Analyze BOMs and routing data; recommend adjustments for costing accuracy.
• Prepare cost reports, KPIs, and dashboards for leadership.
• Support budgeting/forecasting for manufacturing costs and overhead allocation.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
• Support ERP cost accounting modules and testing.

This role plays a critical role in tracking, analyzing, and reporting manufacturing costs, supporting accurate product costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and month-end close processes. The ideal candidate has strong cost accounting experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment and thrives in cross-functional collaboration with production, engineering, supply chain, and operations teams to drive cost efficiency and profitability.**Job Duties and Responsibilties*** Maintain and improve the standard cost system, including setting/updating standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead* Perform monthly cost variance analysis (material, labor, overhead, purchase price, usage, efficiency, rate variances) and prepare clear explanations for management* Calculate and report Cost of Goods Manufactured (COGM), Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), and gross margin by product line, customer, or plant* Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and inventory adjustments* Monitor and reconcile inventory accounts (raw materials, WIP, finished goods); support cycle counting and annual physical inventory processes* Analyze Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routing data in collaboration with engineering and production teams; recommend BOM/routing adjustments to improve costing accuracy* Prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly cost reports, KPIs, and dashboards for operational and executive leadership* Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes for manufacturing costs and overhead allocation* Identify cost-saving opportunities, process inefficiencies, and areas for continuous improvement* Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies* Participate in ERP system enhancements/upgrades (especially cost accounting modules) and system testing* Ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as required* Other duties as assigned.## Qualifications**Experience and Education*** Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required* Certified Public Accountant license preferred* Solid knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles* 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment* Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, overhead allocation, and inventory valuation methods* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, data modeling)* Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Infor, NetSuite, or similar) including manufacturing/cost and inventory control modules**Work Environment/Physical Demands**The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
