Job Description
THE ROLE:

A+E Global Media seeks a temporary Fact-Checker dedicated to ensuring accuracy, clarity, and integrity within the editorial sections of History.com and AETV.com. This role is responsible for verifying facts across articles, timelines, images, and supplementary content, establishing processes to support seamless fact-checking, and maintaining editorial standards. Reporting to a director, the fact-checker will play a key role in upholding A+E’s reputation for trustworthy, high-quality storytelling. This a new position, and the person who fills it will play a key part in working with the full team to create processes that are both effective and efficient.

MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU’LL DO:
  • Verify the factual accuracy of content in the editorial sections of History and AETV, including text, short-form video and visuals
  • Evaluate writers’ arguments for logic, fairness, and balance, and recommend edits or clarifications when necessary
  • Review related content—such as social media posts, headlines, captions, and supplementary materials—to maintain consistency and correctness
  • Collaborate with Legal, Standards, and Corporate Responsibility teams to vet sensitive or high-risk content
  • Establish, document, and refine fact-checking processes, workflows, and systems to ensure consistency, efficiency, and scalability
  • Stay abreast of current events, history developments, and relevant topics to ensure contextual accuracy
  • Communicate proactively with team members and problem-solve in partnership.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts—tooling, training, checklists, audit systems—in support of high editorial standards
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in editorial fact-checking, research, or journalism
  • Demonstrated ability to verify facts and sources under tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sharp analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with journalistic standards, editorial ethics, and source evaluation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and editorial systems (CMS)
  • Comfort working across multiple teams and managing expectations in a dynamic environment

*This is a Contract Position

Compensation

Contract Hourly Pay Rate: $41.28
